Three regional poets will be reading at Village Square Booksellers, in Bellows Falls Vermont, on Saturday Jan 9th at 1pm.

Dola Neill
Dolapo (Dola) Adeniji-Neill from Saxtons River, VT will read from her new poetry book, "Shamelessly Beautiful Morning". From the innocence of youth in her native Nigeria, to the maturity of an American college professor, Adeniji-Neill's poetry reflects sensitivity to the world around her - the love of life, the love of others, and anguish over social injustice. Her subjects bridge the gap between ancient tradition, world wars, the atom bomb and "ground zero". Adeniji-Neill is an Assistant Professor at Adelphi University. She holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Hawaii-Manoa, a MA in Anthropology and Sociology from the American University in Cairo & an MA in Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College.

Jeanne Clark, from Wolfeboro, NH,  has written a book-length epic poem, "Story of Ellacoya", inspired by the legend of an Abenaki maiden named Ellacoya, whose father, Ahanton, is said to have referred to Lake Winnipesaukee as "Smile of the Great Spirit" after the storms on her wedding day cleared. Clark is interested in Native American legends and her poem also features a strong female heroine. Clark has a sequel, "Goldenrod" featuring a settler named Hannah Clark ready to be published and is working on another on Hannah's father. Clark is the 2009 recipient of the New Hampshire Senior Poet Laureate award granted by the Angels Without Wings Foundation.

Dorothy B. Anderson, a retired family therapist, has lived in Walpole, NH for twenty years, with her husband, tree farmer Paul Galloway.  Anderson grew up in China and came to this country in 1948 with her parents, refugees from Nazi Germany.  Anderson is currently working on a history of The Frost Place, a nonprofit educational center for poetry and the arts based at Robert Frost’s old homestead, in Franconia.  Anderson has two books: a chapbook titled By The Yangtse and a full-length collection, published in 2006, entitled Light Entering My Bones. Her work has also been published in Dine, Edison Literary Review, Comstock, and Wooster Review.

Their reading will be followed by the 2nd Saturday Poetry Open Mic (2-4pm), a monthly poetry reading hosted by the River Voices, a writing group based in Walpole. Come to Village Square Booksellers and enjoy a relaxing afternoon of listening to poetry.  Call 802-463-9404 to make a reservation to read at the Open Mic.
